Red hot reel. A super-high retrieve rate reel, the Speedster S features a narrower spool, inboard mounted handle, and an outer diameter significantly larger than our highest performing reels. The narrow spool prevents line barreling, while the inboard handle and added circumference improve retrieve rate. Lightweight and a super fast retrieve - brilliant

Speedster S -5+ in Dark Smoke.
Balances my 9 foot 4 wieght Helios H3F perfectly. The usual silky smooth drag, great machining and an elegant minimalist design.
An excellent combination of strength, lightness and retrieve rate with drop-dead gorgeous looks. No, I don't work for Lamson,I've just used their excellent reels for many years, both for myself and when guiding clients.

Nice reel, sticky brake

I have to say that the reel has a nice craftmanship but the brake is one of the worst i've ever had on a flyreel. You can not turn the spool with a fluid movement, it always is sticky. It could defenetly snap your light tippets. This reel is not worth the price. Had a Lamson Force SL, where the brake was perfect. Even on a guru, there is a much better (nearly perfect) brake.

Fantastic reel

I have been guiding trout in NC and TN professionally for almost 20 years. The only reels I trust for the light tippet style of fishing we do are Lamson. They will protect even the lightest tippet, and are practically bulletproof.
Konics, Force ULAs, Litespeeds, Radius, Liquids, Gurus and now the New Speedster. I've owned them all and netted thousands of fish for myself and others.
This reel may be the sexiest Lamson I've owned. It's unbelievably light. Drag is as smooth as glass, and it picks up line quickly.

Reliable and affordable

Speedster S Dark Smoke
Purchased for a trip as a backup reel and ended up using it as my daily driver.
The drag performed flawless when fighting Bonefish. Back on home water, had no trouble reeling in salmon all summer long.
Very affordable and the quality of workmanship is superb. The dark smoke compliments the reel.

Awesome Reel

Recently purchased a Lamson Speedster S Dark Smoke -7+ It has not disappointed, it's beautiful to look at and so smooth. I just love to hold it in my hand, turn the reel and feel the quality. I put this on an Edge 8 weight rod to compliment each other and what a team. I have caught many fish already on this combo and look forward to many more years of catching fish.
My only disappointment has been wanting to buy a spare spool. This unique color is not offering a spare spool at this time but I sure would push Lamson to consider making some. I would certainly buy one.
