Received the extra spool but have yet to fill it. Impressed with the machining and looks. Nicely balances with my nine foot eight weight rods. Good price point.

Very happy with my two new “extra spools”. They are exactly what i wanted and work well on my reel.

I love these--it's gentle and respectful to the fish, which can be left comfortably in the water. In particular, if a fish has gulped a dry and taken it deeply, this is so much better than hands, hemostats, etc.

I don't like nymphing for trout, though I'll admit it catches more fish than anything else I do. That was never really the appeal for me. I fish to cast, and to be somewhere worth casting — a day spent hunting tiny native trout in the Smokies is a good day whether I catch three fish or thirty. Numbers were never the point. The smaller the kit, the better the day, and that's the angler I am when I pick up these rods.

Here's the part Lamson might find useful: the E-Series is built and sold as a Euro-nymphing rod. I've never fished it that way, and I'm not going to start. What I've found instead is a rod that casts and roll casts a Wulff Triangle Taper and a hand-tied leader through overgrown, technical small-stream water as well as anything I've owned — better, in a few cases, than rods built specifically for that job.

I got here after fishing an Ultralite LL, 9'9", 4wt, for a season — the rod every online review called the one that does everything, which is exactly why I bought it. It does most things. What it doesn't do is swing the way I like. It's a heavy rod in the hand, and I was overloading the line just to feel it load properly. The 3wt E-Series, at 10 feet, has replaced it outright, and the swing weight is the difference — light, direct, nothing extra. In close, with a Triangle Taper, it does exactly what I want and nothing I don't. Balanced on a Purist II, 5+, it might be the cleanest small-stream setup I've built. When the water opens up and I need distance, a Cortland Sylk line stretches its legs without costing me any of the delicacy that makes it worth fishing in the first place — a 3wt was never built to be a distance tool, but the Sylk carries enough energy in the tip that I can still fire a line out there like a laser when the situation calls for it. The 2wt does the same trick a size down — smaller flies, smaller trout, and as much accuracy as the wind will allow me to use.

Lamson built a Euro rod. I'm using it to do the opposite, and it's the best rod in my hand for it.

This is my First Lamson rod and reel! I had to wait and save up money for this combo. It was worth it! I love this combo, very smooth and good quality. It came ready to go, just put the sections together, run the line through, and add a fly! There is a big difference between my $250 combos and this one. Waiting on the liquid max to arrive in couple days now!

Came quickly and I was able to fish with it that weekend. Like my other Lamson reels the quality is top notch and functions as I would expect it to

My buddy Gene Frenkle and I put this rod to work, like fish, fish, fish, fish.... It hammers them. Heck, it should be called the Reaper because the fish just fear it. All joking aside this is a great quality rod at a fair price, I would highly recommend. I just fished 4 days on the green river with it and only good things to say.

These reels are amazing! I use them for both fresh and salt water. Super durable and lightweight! All day fishing in the surf and all day fishing streams. They never give me any fatigue! I have used several other brands but these are my go to reels! Great company with a great warranty! Easy to match their reels to any rod I make!

Love the Rod. Was really undecided and definitely made the right choice. Fishes well and catches fish. Rod actually feels nice even on smaller pan fish, but also feels nice with the two to three lb bass. 7 w was a Great Choice, paired with the Lamson Liquid S 7w 3 pack. Fast shipping.

I knew at first sight that I would like this reel. In hand I am realizing that this one will be a classic for many years to come. My hat is off to your design team, seriously. I purchased a 3+ in Tribute color for my 3WT and soon after the 5+ for my 6WT taking the place of my Speedsters. I appreciate Lamson’s commitment to building light weight reels and the challenge to push the envelope. I am not too concerned about the plastic pawl because my faith resides your research for durability in this piece. And I understand that this material probably won the day for cost, weight and ease of production, otherwise, a metal pawl banging across the aluminum machined spool ridges would beat them down in short order. Unless it was designed from super thin spring steel, but profiling it would have its own problems. The plastic is actually pretty genius.
I am rethinking balanced weight of reel and rod. I’ve had my Speedster 2 attached to my 6WT that balances everything to the center of the grip. Nice, but a bit heavy. The Purist 5+ balances more forward on the grip by just south of a couple of inches, but is lighter. I prefer the tradeoff in favor of the lighter, slimmer Purist II. There are no rules to the rod/reel balance thing, only personal preference. As with color. Not too jazzed about the Whiskey here, but it is genius that you offer it. The Tribute is aptly named and is the bomb in my view. It had me at first sight.

I wanted to extend the usefulness of my Centerfire reel which has been outstanding in our latest bonefishing trip. I put striper line on the spool for my Cape Cod adventures and it was a perfect fit. I like the simplicity of the screw attachment with the tool that came with the reel. I'm a happy camper

I’ve been fishing this rod for a while now so I feel I can give an honest opinion. First time I held this rod and gave it the wiggle test in our local fly shop I knew this was something special. I could feel the energy of this rod as if it was alive. I went back the next day and bought it and I’m so glad I did. This rod definitely gives you an advantage with its lightness, quick recovery, snappiness and sensitivity like no other. I fish a full Mono rig and this 10’ 3wt can sling mono better than any rod I’ve fished / own. I have caught everything from 8”to 20+” and it handled them all. I have read previous reviews regarding its backbone and yes I agree to some point but this rod has an amazing flex pattern that can handle large big river trout. I fish the Truckee religiously and it’s not uncommon to hook into a big fish. I am extremely pleased with my decision to purchase this rod and I know you will too. I fish the 10’ 3wt with a Lamson Guru HD 5+ and it’s magic. Thank you Lamson for designing and building a superior product. Hope to see more size and length options in the future. Oh, I guess my only recommendation would be to have a bigger fighting but that you can lean into when fighting larger fish.

The Reel is a TERRIFIC DEAL. Fishes Great. Like the idea of the extra spools with different types of line. Bought Lamson Liquid and that was also great. Shipping was very fast.
