This reel has been amazing. Great design, great price point, and great drag. I am a very big fan of how Lamson drags usually turn the right amount for me. Not too much to dial in max if needed and easy to back off. If you are in the market for a high quality salt ready (any water is fine) consider the Lamson Liquid Max. I am seriously considering one of the packages...it's priced right and checks a lot of other boxes.
Great kit to get you on the water quick. Fully loaded and ready to fish. Lamson has been my choice of reels and now adding the rod it makes sense. Fished it for bass and handles streamers well. Very pleased with product.

Very well engineered! Smooth drag with plenty of capacity. Filled with 250 yards of 30lb (room to spare) and. WF 11. Very nice reel.
I bought the -3+ reel and extra spools to replace an old friend of a reel that is showing its age (getting ... cranky?). These reels are priced at entry level but are excellent quality and value. Highly recommend.
Just got a chance to use it yesterday. No fish were caught but it works really well! 10/10 would recommend to anyone who’s just getting into the sport and want a reel that isn’t a cheap POS but doesn’t want to drop $400 on a fancy one. The drag works really well and the frame is very solid yet light. Can’t wait to use it to get into some nice steelhead here in Washington state this fall!
I bought this rod in a 6wt, this thing has no problem flinging big bugs, heavy nymph rigs and fat streamers
No complaints about Lamson. Love that they keep spare spools from old models around are always fast with shipping. Best reels on the market hands down.
By recommendation of a Lamson rep, I purchased a GURU S HD 9 tor Kenai River Sockeye salmon. The machining and beauty are ore immediately obvious, but stopping power is my number one concern. I tightened the drag on a strong running fish, and my previously unexposed 40 lb. braid snapped two feet off of the reel. The GURU S HD is STRONG.
I ordered the spool directly from Lamson because the Midnight color has been discontinued. Lamson customer service was very helpful, order shipped promptly and spool matched reel which looks great with my Thomas & Thomas Avantt II 905 rod.
Got the 6wt for trip to Labrador and couldn’t be happier with the action. Matched with a SA Anadros line it does great throwing big flies into the wind. Caught 10lb. Atlantic salmon and it held up great.
I bought this reel at begining of 2023 fishing season, with the two extra spools. Great price, and functions well. I use it entirely in saltwater, mostly for northeast stripers. I do soak the reel after every use as I had a Konic that corroded after neglect, though it also still works. The drag works fine with enough resistance needed to land 10+ pound fish. What is most importatnt is the support Lamson provides to their customers, perfect. I own three Lamson reels , Liquid, Konic and this Remix, and I recommend them to anyone getting into the sport.
I got this rod to replaced my favorite 6 weight which bit the dust after nearly 15 years. It was a tough decision which rod to replace it with but decided on the Velocity because of the reviews, there were none in my area to test. I went with the 6 wt with fighting butt as my new topwater bass rod.
When the rod arrived I immediately did the obligatory lawn test. Loved it!
First time on the water, not so much. On my first hookup the rod snapped when I came up tight on a 2 lb. largemouth. I was VERY disappointed but not for long. Sitting in my kayak I called Lamson customer service and spoke with Sean who told me how to submit the warranty claim. Short version of the story is, one week later I was back on the water with a new section to replace the broken one, which fit perfectly by the way, and couldn’t be happier!!
I’ve since landed many largemouth, up to 3.5 lb. and smallmouth, up to 2.5 lb. with the rod and am completely happy. The casting power and accuracy are far more than expected for a rod at this price range. Fighting capability is substantial for a 6 wt, it has minimal swing weight and I can launch a big topwater hair bug, with ease as far as I care to cast.
